50+ Years Proven Experience

FORGE has been designing and constructing pedestrian boardwalks and bridges for over 50 years. We combine design expertise, engineering precision, and a deep understanding of place.

From urban precincts to remote natural environments, our structures connect communities, minimise environmental impact, and are built to last.

With a full in-house team including design, engineering and construction, we manage every stage of the project – providing certainty in complex and high-risk sensitive sites.

We do things differently.

Every project we take on balances technical expertise with thoughtful design. Our bridges and boardwalks are built for place, performance and longevity.

Our Design-Led Approach

Every FORGE project begins with certainty. When you engage FORGE as your project partner, we will run your project through our Methodology process, ensuring constructability, cost certainty and design integrity from as early as concept development. By understanding where risk lives and how to manage it, we protect both your design intent and project outcomes.

  • The Gables Bridges

The Gables is a greenfield community located near Box Hill in Sydney’s north-west. With a sweeping masterplan set amongst rolling hills and creeks, ensuring seamless connectivity for residents was a critical focus for the developer, Stockland.

Having successfully delivered a number of previous bridges at The Gables, as well as a major shade structure for another Stockland development at nearby Elara, FORGE was contracted to design, detail and deliver a family of three new multi-span pedestrian bridges ranging from 32–57 metres in length.

  • Brickmakers Drive Bridge

George’s Cove is a major residential community being delivered by Mirvac at Moorebank in Sydney’s south-west. Before granting approval for a new release of dwellings, Liverpool City Council required Mirvac to install a flood evacuation route connecting George’s Cove to nearby Paine Park on the other side of bustling Brickmakers Drive. Mirvac had already received a proposal from another civil contractor, however their bridge design (100% concrete) was deemed to be excessive, both in terms of size and cost.

Having collaborated on many previous access projects, Mirvac instead reached out to FORGE. We worked together to explore more cost-effective options, scoping out an alternative bridge and boardwalk design and lodging a new DA.

  • Aura Brook Bridges

Aura Brook is a vast landscaped green space within the wider Aura residential estate, being developed by Stockland at the southern end of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

FORGE was engaged by the landscape contractor, Eureka Landscapes, to work with them detail, manufacture and deliver two new multi-span community bridges to provide safe and easy access for residents to explore the surrounding conservation areas.

  • Hamilton Street Pedestrian Bridge

Stretching 73 metres across the Wimmera River – and 15 metres above it – this mighty pedestrian access structure in Horsham is the longest single-span bridge FORGE has ever delivered.

Creating a crucial link to the town centre for more than 2,000 residents (and four schools), FORGE (formerly Fleetwood Urban) was appointed as lead contractor following a multi-million-dollar tender in early 2022 – more than a decade after Horsham Rural City Council had first floated the idea for a pedestrian bridge at Hamilton Street.

  • Pyes Creek Swing Bridge

Delivered for Hornsby Shire Council under the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program, the Pyes Creek Swing Bridge connects Cherrybrook with Fallon Drive Reserve in Dural via a low-profile, 50-metre span through a sensitive ecological corridor.

Designed, manufactured and installed by FORGE, the single-span swing bridge was engineered to minimise environmental impact and eliminate the need for cranes or heavy equipment.

Featuring 30mm galvanised steel support cables, 32 cross beams and FRP mini-mesh decking, the bridge was hand-assembled high above Pyes Creek before opening to the public in mid-2023.

  • Dobroyd Head Walking Track

Appointed by National Parks & Wildlife Services (NPWS), FORGE delivered major structural upgrades across three locations in Sydney Harbour National Park — including a 40-metre boardwalk extension, a 6-metre footbridge replacement, and a new 290-metre boardwalk linking Crater Cove Lookout to the Arabanoo Track.

Working from approved designs by Thompson Berrill Landscape Design (TBLD), FORGE detailed, fabricated and installed each structure, guided by a robust environmental management plan developed in consultation with NPWS to protect the sensitive coastal environment.

We had quite a few hassles with a previous bridge project with somebody else, but this was the exact opposite. Right from day one the process of working with FORGE was very smooth and was exactly what was delivered.

John Martin
Infrastructure Director at Horsham Rural City Council

In my 15+ years in the industry, I have not seen projects consistently finished to such a high standard with attention to detail that is delivered by FORGE. This is also true for the bespoke items where details and materials have not been used before – making the precision designing and construction even more impressive.

Tim Corby
Development Manager at Peet
