WE PARTNER WITH
Architects
FORGE partners with Australian architects to transform their creative visions into buildable, compliant and enduring architectural infrastructure for public spaces.
As part of the multi-million-dollar redevelopment of Adelaide Festival Plaza – including two 45,000sqm office towers – Walker Corporation was also responsible for delivering the adjoining public realm for the State of South Australia.
Our expertise lies in transforming bold artistic concepts into safe, durable and buildable structures - manufactured and installed with the same discipline we apply to major infrastructure projects. Using our proprietary FORGE Methodology, we provide complete certainty in cost, feasibility and delivery from the earliest design stages.
Whether it's large-scale sculptural landmarks, interactive public art structures or integrated streetscape features, FORGE brings together design sensitivity, material innovation and technical rigour to bring artistic visions to life. Every urban art installation project is delivered with care, compliance and craftsmanship - built to inspire, engage and endure in the public realm.

Dawson Mall Arbour, Mount Druitt
Dawson Mall Arbour, Mount DruittPart of the $27 million transformation of the Mount Druitt Town Centre, FORGE worked closely with CHROFI architects to detail, manufacture and install a kaleidoscopic curved custom arbour snaking its way through leafy Dawson Mall.
As complex to detail as it was colourful to look at, the stunning concept was conceived by CHROFI and featured an interconnected series of giant curved steel tubes, finished with 20km+ of hand-wound steel-cored rope and LED strip lighting. Behind the scenes, extensive parametric modelling, prototype testing and custom connection detailing were required to translate the freeform geometry into a buildable, durable structure.

-

By collaborating closely with architects, their clients and the relevant technical specialists from the initial concept stages of your project to final completion, we consistently bring even the most complex and creative design visions to life—on time and on budget.
-
What types of custom structures can FORGE co-create for architects?
FORGE specialises in bringing custom architectural to visions to life. We have extensive experience in the design and delivery of fully custom public infrastructure projects with a portfolio including sculptural art installations, shade shelters, bespoke play structures, bridges, boardwalks and viewing platforms. Collaborating closely with you and your creative team, our in-house design and delivery specialists will help you refine your vision based on your project’s specific site, budget and aesthetic requirements. This includes full prototyping and material testing as required to ensure the best possible outcome.
-
Does FORGE offer support with engineering and constructability?
Yes. The FORGE Methodology is built upon a wholistic delivery offering that combines specialist design verification, structural engineering, manufacturing methodology, risk mitigation, planning capability, pre-assembly, project management and construction expertise, all from one team.
-
How early should architects engage FORGE in project design?
It’s never too early. The sooner the collaboration process begins on your project the better the outcome will likely be, and the smoother the process to achieve it. Whether your vision is large or small, simple or complex, the benefits of early engagement can be especially noticeable during the critical initial design stages, resulting in far greater certainty around cost, scope and creative intent.
-
Does FORGE work with complex geometries or unconventional materials?
Yes. Many of the projects we deliver for our clients each year are fully custom and highly complex, requiring significant levels of innovation in terms of both design and materiality. Rather than rigid solutions, we work collaboratively with architects to explore different possibilities and shape bespoke creative outcomes that are hand-tailored to the project’s specific objectives, vision and budget. Blending freedom of creative expression with deep structural rigour, the FORGE Methodology allows us to successfully deliver architectural visions of all sizes, mediums and intricacies.
-
Can FORGE incorporate sustainable or recycled materials into architectural projects?
Absolutely—and we often do. When designed cleverly and planned effectively, using sustainable, recycled and even reclaimed materials can be a highly creative and effective way to reduce the environmental impact of a community structure—while also sending strong sustainability and provenance messages to the wider community. FORGE has considerable experience at designing and constructing with recycled materials. In some instances, such as Highlands Sustainable Park in Victoria, the materials have actually been sourced from the site itself, and would have otherwise have ended up in landfill.

From an engineering perspective, structures must be designed in line with all relevant AS codes and guidelines, ensuring they withstand not only the weight of community usage but also environmental factors such as soil conditions, wind and weather, tides and even flooding events. Safety considerations extend to the provision of appropriate materials, non-slip surfaces, clear sight lines, easy access points and potentially lighting to ensure community areas feel safe and welcoming at all hours, day and night.
-

How does FORGE ensure quality and durability in high-use environments?
Ensuring enduring aesthetic quality and long-term durability is directly impacted by two critical factors: the design and the materials. Typically, these decisions are guided by the creative vision, the scale of the structure, the volume of usage, the local climate and other unique characteristics of the site. Durability, maintenance and public safety issues are always considered. FORGE brings decades of experience designing with an extensive range of natural and composite materials for public infrastructure projects.
