FREE WEBINAR: Maximising Public Amenity at Gunyama Park

FREE WEBINAR: Maximising Public Amenity at Gunyama Park

From concept to completion, Gunyama Park is a story of collaboration at every level.

On Wednesday 22 April 2026 at 12pm (AEST), we will be hosting a one-hour CPD webinar. It is a must for practitioners involved in the delivery of public realm play projects across inner-city areas.

At a time when Australian cities are being transformed by rapid urban consolidation, brownfield development and rising population density, an expert panel will explore both the challenges and opportunities facing landscape architects to ensure outdoor play amenity grows at the same pace as urban populations.

To bring a sharp real-world focus to the conversation, the webinar will draw directly on the recent delivery of Gunyama Park for the City of Sydney, a hugely innovative new community precinct less than 3km from Sydney’s Central train station—with several of the project’s key stakeholders on the panel.

Detailing how policy makers, planners and designers worked together to solve a wide range of critical inner-city challenges within the project budget, the session will look specifically at issues including:

  • Designing to inspire and engage local families—not merely 'box tick'
  • Maximising play/community value in a highly restricted development footprint
  • Overcoming complex site access issues for teams and equipment
  • Navigating an overlapping web of underground services
  • Effectively restoring and repurposing former industrial land
  • Safely delivering a major urban works program in an active residential community

There will also be a live Q&A opportunity with the panel towards the end of the session.

Panellists:

  1. Mark Jol (FORGE, Design and Technical Lead)
  2. Joel Munns (City of Sydney, Senior Design Manager)
  3. Tim Field (PLACE Design Group, Principal Landscape Architect)
  4. Adrian Collins (Regal Innovations, Business Development Manager)
  5. Liam Isaksen (PLACE Design Group, Senior Associate)
  6. Peter Maniaty (FORGE, host)
